Where are we going next?
EWR will soon put out a request for proposals to supply photovoltaic systems for 10 unelectrified homes on the Reservation and is preparing to hand out applications to residents. Households with the greatest needs—low-income, elders, children under 3, high occupancy numbers, veterans and/or disability—will be prioritized.
Each residential solar system will be coupled with battery storage and an emergency generator in order to ensure energy needs are met throughout the day and night. The scope of the TEP grant does not include generators. Therefore, our current funding request is $50,000, which will cover the 10 emergency generators required to reliably electrify 10 remote homes.
